I am generally afraid of open combs. I seek out mild razors. That said, I used a Gillette New Improved OC this morning and had an incredibly close shave. I had to pay attention, mind you, had one little nick (that the alum block handled easily), but the shave was exhilarating.

The Merkur 15C is a nice mild OC razor, as is the SLOC.

The SLOC perhaps is the mildest OC in my rotation, but she never let's me down when I need an easy shave free of irritation. The Titan (fourth outing) was a good match... three passes, DFS+. And: no irritation. Mission completed.

If I keep seeing these SLOCS, I know my temptation will get the better of me.

This brush has been a lather vampire. Since I don't have any garlic soaps I thought Arko would be the next best thing. It didn't work, I still had to load between passes. Guess I'll have to try something else or toss it.

I've decided this razor is just too mild for me and I'll be retiring it. Perhaps I'll give it to a new shaver someday.

Quite happy with the shave: 2 pass+ DFS. Only issue was that by using the sample sized soap, I had to bowl lather. I puck/face lather, so while the SW soap and Simpson brush did THEIR job, I was reminded that MY bowl lathering skill needs some practice!
