October 2022 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Still in…..just.
Was almost tempted to buy a new Mergress as the bottom came off in my hand but I understand this can be repaired

Yesterdays shave
Pre-Shave: Warm Shower
Soap: MWF
Blade: Treet Platinum
Brush: FS 3-band Silvertip
Razor: Merkur Mergress (2.5)
Post-Shave:Alum Block
Nivea 2-Phase ASL
Proraso Sandakwood & Shea Butter ASB
Castle Forbes Gentleman EDP

Bit of a rushed shave so only a DFS result this time. Must always resolve to take my time in future. Few weepers on account of ingrown hairs brough on by leaving too long between shaves.
I’ll get over the disappointment though and roll on the next shave

Stay safe all nearly done 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

Muhle STF brush
Tallow Tabac

Hey Guys
The first two Muhle brushes I received were the wrong model. Today the right brush was delivered. It is the X-Large (25mm) Olive Wood STF model. It is soft, luxurious and a winner in my book. I enjoyed painting, dabbing and splaying lather for about 3 minutes. It had a cashmere like feel but similar to other modern synthetic fibers with a nice balanced amount of backbone.

Since the lather had plenty of time to adhere and saturate my skin, the shave was excellent. Tabac retains moisture and it's sheen remained for several minutes. I've said it before, I like how it doesn't dry out my skin.

You can't tease us about using a Mergress and then not share a photo. That's just mean 😉

Day 25, 80.6% complete.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, KCG #2
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave

Thought the bowl-lathered soap was slightly over-hydrated, but the combination of that and the KCG blade provided a fine BBS shave.

Out of my four Game Changer baseplates, the one I've hardly ever used is the .68 OC, so ought to give that a proper evaluation soon.

According to the Italian Barber chart, it's a bit milder than the .84 safety bar plate.

I really enjoy my GC .68 OC. I used it more than my .84 SB and .68 SB.

Your post always make me think to use .84 more than I do!

That's an interesting comment, Balin.

The GC OC68 that you like, at least according to the Italian Barber chart, is only a shadow milder than the GC.84P safety bar that's currently my favourite.

Since we both have all the relevant kit, would you like to try a "tread in the other man's shoes" experiment for a week?

There's no contest here, just a learning experience.

PS, if you are up for that. obviously use your preferred everything else.:)

Notes to today’s shave: here

Only one week to go before NOCvember kicks off and my safety bar razors are warming up! On the Lasta Red handle the Flatboy is very nimble and manoeuvrable unlike using the stock stainless steel handle (am I becoming a Light Handle Fanboy?!) and even better: it looks amazing too!

Blade performance was sub par today. Still smooth but not as effective anymore.

Enjoy your shaves everyone!
