Obscure (Rare?) SE razors...

Looking at some old B&B posts, I guess the Grabhorn is rare - got this one for a few dollars in a group buy. The Dandy was 95 cents, shipping extra - and can take a modified SE blade to boot:thumbup1:is it a rare razor also?

A few dollars for a grabhorn?
I have a saved eBay search that emails me when one shows up. Only one has shown up so far in the many months it's been saved, and that went for $123.50, plus $15 shipping from the UK (no I didn't win it).

That was an awesome deal you got there.

edit: never heard of the dandy, but this is what Wait's Compendium has to say about it.
"Traut & Hine Mfg. Co., No. 1 Union Square New York, N.Y.
Single edge, rectangular thin blade, 3/4 x 1-7/16 inch, comb guard with edge ribs to align blade, back plate swings away on pivot, the top plate is curved inward on one side to expose top of blade, marked DANDY RAZOR/ Three-inch handle tapered near razor head with four knurled bands. Identical to Barnum, Boston and The Langsdorf; similar to B & R Sanitary."

Got this stash on the Bay 2 weeks ago for $38.35 delivered - see the Grabhorn on the right? Even had 2 blades in the handle:thumbup:

Sure, I see it now. :001_rolle
And now that you've let us know that you have blades for it, you're going to have to tell us how it shaves. :001_smile

One of the blades is in passable condition, but the razor is light with no great exposure (my daily shaver is a Futur set at 5) so it may very well be a "beard bouncer" for me:lol:

those are both somewhat rare. nice finds.

I thought so - and a SE blade can be easily modified to fit the Dandy, so will try that soon. The Grabhorn blade has a rib on the back that acts as a retainer, so using an injector blade would be dicey....
