What's new

Now: Let's Shave (with the Schick Krona)!

The recent post on the Schick Krona (maligned by a few, adored by many ) inspired me to use it for my SOTD (sort of)...

To start:
Left side w/Krona; right side w/1948 SS.

Blade: Derby Extra

Shaving cream: Musgo Real (the easiest for me to get great lather)

Brush: Vulfix 2223 Super Badger

The shave:
The Krona is surprisingly lightweight (38g). This allowed me to be more liberal in my technique, but unlike the SS, where the weight of the razor helps guide the process, the Krona required me to apply MORE pressure than usual. When I didn't, it would stutter or "skip" across my whiskers. As such, I find the Krona to be, in some ways, more like a multi-blade cartridge razor.

I did WTG, XTG, and a N/S touch-up. The Krona actually got closer than the SS--but as I consider myself a newbie, it could be that the ease of handling reminded me of my cartridge razor, and I felt more comfortable with it.

After:
(1) nick on each side of the neck . Wiped down with Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal witchhazel; let dry, then applied Trumpers Lime Skin Food. If anything, probably a little bit of a burn on my SS side, trying to get it as smooth as the Krona side.

Happy Sunday morning!
