What's new

Not to shabby...

This piece of history is my first shavette but definitely not my last. For 6 bucks and change on ebay I feel honored to be the owner of this fine shaving device. It will stay unused until I get the courage, time and patience to take on this beast. The instructions were a bonus. They were hidden in the box and when I stumbled upon them it was a joyous occasion. Well hope you enjoy the pics. Anyone know any info on this brand?

That's an odd looking shavette, did Durham Duplex make just blades that they would need a demonstrator?

Do an Advanced Search on "durham" within "Search Titles Only" and you will find out a whole lot about these razors.

Nice razor! I own 3 & the one you have with the curved teeth on the guard shaves the best. At least for me. I also think it was the best plated one. Very shiny.
It's funny running across your post as I shaved with mine today. :001_smile
Downside to this razor is the blades. You have to hone & strop them to get a nice shave from them. It was pointed out to do a search about it by huracan & if you are thinking about using one you should as you really need to sharpen these blades. There was a stropping part made by Durham that replaced the guard & if you had or find that part you can hone & strop these blades. One note about the part. I have found that through the years Durham made some changes to the razor & the stropping part that I have only fits the 2 earlier types. Just like the one in Post # 5 on my link. The one with the curved teeth on the guard I am unable to use it with. Not a real problem for me as I strop with one & shave with another. :tongue_sm There was also at least one blade stropper called "Sharpen-M-All" that was able to strop the Durham blades. I bought one of those on the bay but I find that I can get a much better edge on my strop.
Enjoy your razor I sure have. I don't shave with it that much but I do enjoy using it from time to time.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't realize that this could be honed and stropped. The blades are sharp as is but definitely something I would like to try in the future. Thanks again.
