NOS super 84

I have used a 1970 super 84, given to me by my grandfather in the mid ‘80’s. It was 14-15 years used when I got it and have used it almost every day since. I found an NOS 1969 super 84 on eBay within my means of purchase. I got it last night and cleaned and used this morning. It still had original tape closing the case. I loaded 1 of 2 spoilers that came with. Over the years that has been my favorite combo. However, today I received the best one pass shave of my life, then BBS with just some touch up. What a marvel of shaving engineering!! I used my vintage old spice mug, vintage Colgate soap, vintage ever ready boar and finished with shulton old spice from the admiral decanter. I think I heard Marvin Gaye singing

I got a 73 NOS, now used T3 Super 84. My birthday razor. Was surprised I got a better shave, 2 pass BBS from it as compared to my other adjustables, including my Fatboys, Slims, Rex and Variant.

I noticed with the aluminum handle, it is a little too heavy, I think this explains the difference with the Slim with an identical head, but brass handle.

I used to have a Fatboy in excellent condition, sold it to fund my new super 84. Also have a slim. I thought they were all great shavers, even my used 1970 super 84, that I have used almost daily gives good shaves. But I think over the life of all these razors 40-60 years old, they’ve been jostled and maybe a bit out of alignment here and there. Something about the NOS made for an eye opening shave. I’m an old shaver, 34 years of shaving, so my technique is solid. Do you have any pics of your super 84 @THall

Nice find there. A brand new razor against a 50+ year old razor, even from aa same line of models is something else. Enjoy in good health.

I started shaving in 1987, electric first few months, carts then made the move to DE 6 years ago. My SA really surprised me, did not think it would be better than my Slim, at best I thought it would be same.

I'll give a slight edge to my black beauty over the slim adjustable for the longer and lighter handle. It also seems less aggressive than the slim but it could be my mind playing tricks.
