NOS Score at the Barber Beauty Supply

I stopped on the way home from work at a Barber Beauty Supply shop and scored some discontinued Pinaud. I got some Lime Sec and Lilac veg. Then there were some discontinued product. They had a half full bottle of Naturelle Sec, a full bottle of Fleur de France and an 8 oz glass bottle of Clubman Club Royale.

Not a bad haul!!!

Looks great. I see metric measurements on all but the Royale and Lime Sec. Metric suggests are relatively recent: 1992 at the earliest, more likely 1994 or later. If that is correct, I would also expect to see bar codes on those bottles.

The ones with FL OZ only, like the Royale bottle, are probably older: 1967 or later. Any bar codes on those?

What do you think about the scents? I think Royale is supposed to be close to modern Special Reserve, but it would be interesting to verify that. I have an old barber sample of Special Reserve with the old Napoleon graphic, and it is subtly different than the modern scent.

There is no bar code on the Club Royale. All the others have bar codes and are in plastic.




SOTD included the Lilac Veg. Wasn't crazy about the scent at first, but something in there wears off after a few minutes. Not an every day scent for me, but I will use it from time to time.

I am EXTREMELY curious about the Fleur de France, and the Naturelle Sec as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts on these. GREAT score!

Good shave. Probably went one shave too many with the blade. Felt a little pulling. I am not sure why they stopped making the Naturelle Sec. It is nice stuff. Kind of a Lemony version of Lime Sec. The sweetness that fades into a woody sharp citrus scent.
