Noob Question

Why does the blades always say do not wipe blade, usually on the wrapping. Does this mean do not wipe with a towel? I usually take it out of razor after each shave and rinse with hot water and then wipe with a towel. Is this a bad thing?

I do that too. I think its to prevent blade dulling. Could be wrong though. Alot of blades usually say shake dry.

It's legal boilerplate that company lawyers had put on: "I wiped the blade and got cut! Im gonna sue! Nobody told me that razor blades were SHARP!"

I rinse and (carefully) dry my blades after a shave as well. As long as you wipe from center to edge, it shouldn't dull your blade. Just remember to do it CAREFULLY!

If you want to dry your blade without taking it out of the razor, a quick spritz of isopropyl alcohol will do it. It displaces the water and evaporates quickly. (...but see above for further instructions!)

Guys there is no need to dry the blade!

After you are done shaving, leave the blade inside the razor and rinse the whole razor under the tap. Give it a few shakes and leave it out in the open to dry. That is all you have to do. When you change the dull blade, you can clean the razor if there is any soap deposits.

True, there is no NEED to dry a blade, especially a DE blade with a life of 2-4 shaves on average. If you choose to do it, though, please be careful when you do.

Agreed. The darn things are sharp. I often go a week with Med Preps and never take them out of the razor unless they're shot. I dry the razor (and, therefore, the exposed edge of the blade) with a soft towel - wiping away from the blade. I don't know that it's necessary, but I like to get the water spots off my razor.

I wondered that too and I concluded that it was so you didn't cut yourself. Using a blow dryer would be silly and excessive, I just blow on the blade and the water goes away.

Any movement along the edge of the blade is more likely to cause cuts-deep ones. Do not wipe blades means you can get some serious cuts by moving any body parts along the blade. Less likely across the blade.
