Tubed non-lathering shave creams such as Edge, Barbasol have given me great results as:

- gentle facial cleanser for dry skin in winter

- pre-shave in the shower

- moisturizer

Grouting the tile.

I find them very hard to work with, but had never tried them in the ways you mention. Maybe a pre-shave prep in the shower might be a good use for them.
