Non-Gillette Recommendations to go with a Red Tip or Lady Gillette

As in title. The obvious answer is probably pick one of the sharper Gillette blades and be done with it, but I am curious if anyone is using the Red Tip Superspeed or the Lady Gillette regularly and is not using a Gillette blade.

Other than some vintage Gillette Thin blades from the 1950s I never use Gillette blades. My preference for blades currently in production would be Voskhod, Ladas, Rapira Platinum, Rapira Swedish, Rapira Supersteel, Lord Platinum, or Bluebird. I have used all these in both an English Red Tip and a Lady Gillette. I do not favour Feather, Kai, Bic, Wilkinson Sword or any of the blades generally considered to be super sharp.

Another Personna fan here. Enough so for it to be the only blade I bought 100 to make sure I had some.

Something to consider with the two razors. The Red Tip is more aggressive than the Lady Gillette. I could run a Dorco through my Red Tip and think, "That was an okay shave." But a spin through the LG and I'd be wondering if the blade was dull. A Feather in the milder razor would suit me; while one in the Red Tip would scare me.

That's not to dissuade you from trying any blade in either, just that it makes assessing a particular blade's performance a little more challenging.

I find the Red Tip quite mild since I have spent a lot of time with a Fatip - the Lady Gillette will almost certainly require something like a Bic or Perma-Sharp for my liking. These responses are mostly confirming that people use blades on the high end of sharp with these vintage razors.

Thanks for the advice.

I find the Red Tip fussy about blades from the vintage Gillette's I have tried, a lot of blades seem rough. Don't be shy to try some medium sharpness blades in either razor. I have had some of my best shaves with a 40's Super Speed and one of the Lord blades or Gillette Platinum for instance.

My wife uses her Starburst with Shark SS and SC on her legs and armpits. She is a one and done shaver and the Sharks do well for a one and done blade for her.
