Noble Otter Noir Vanille

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
This has an interesting fragrance. I purchased it because I read a post that said it has a black tea component in th fragrance. Has anyone used this or any other Noble Otter soaps? How do they perform ?

I love the scent. The name is a little confusing since it’s actually Thé Noir Et Vanille - Black Tea and Vanilla. A good description but often mangled because of the thé/the distinction. It’s probably my second favorite tea scent. (My favorite has been discontinued.)

Performance is quite good. It’s not quite at the top of my list but I will likely buy more sometime because I love the overall experience of using this soap.

I've tried samples of 'Barrbarr' and 'Nectar Amissa' and liked them both. I really like the type of lather I get from Noble Otter and the scents are the perfect strength to me, subtle compared to many of the soap scents that I've tried.

I agree with bobsmsp. I rate Noble Otter as a "B+/A-" soap, on par with Oleo Soapworks Canard base. I consider the price point of $16 to be appropriate. I do have better soaps in my den, but most of them are higher priced. I purchased a set of NO samples. After testing them, I purchased BarrBarr (barbershop), Lonestar(leather), Nectar Amissa (to me it smells like Ammens baby powder), and La Noir et Vanille. I just recently picked up the new Monarch scent which is a combination of lavender, coffee, cognac, etc. It is a wonderful scent, and my favorite NO scent.

This is my favorite Noble Otter soap scent. I think the B+/A- rating by RayClem is pretty close to my performance evaluation also. It is a very good performing soap with nice post shave and a scent that I enjoy throughout the entire shave. Performance wise, I think it is also similar to Oleo Soapworks Carnard base. Excellent and enjoyable shaving experience.

I'm a big fan of these soaps. I have all except Monarch, which I am tempted to pick up. The scents are great, price is reasonable, and performance is among the best.

Ruds rates it as a top scent, if not the top scent, for 2018 (see his video on the best of 2018). I agree. I also think it performs very well as a soap and would rate it at least an A- if not an A though perhaps not elite. All in all, I rank this soap among my top 5 when one takes scent into account. The scent is black tea forward. I can tell you as a black tea aficionado that it hits the mark. Soon after you sense the black tea scent you will begin to sense the jasmine floral, strawberry fruit and bergamot citrus notes as they dance in and out. All of this is wrapped around a warm vanilla. This is a masterful sensory experience IMHO.

Well I certainly can't follow @Southsider effectively, so all I can add is....it doesn't suck lol.
In all seriousness, I love how this soap performs, and I consider it one of the best ones in my humble little arsenal.

Another tea afficionado, here. I will add that there is a certain creaminess and warmth that reminds me of Hong Kong Milk Tea. And I agree that it is an A- performer on par with Oleo Canard.

@Southsider Are you in advertising? Your scent descriptions are irresistable, and I'm not really a soap nut.

Thanks for the great scent reviews!
Thank you for the kind words. I have never been in advertising though I do love wordsmithing. I am retired which gives me more time to do those little things that make life pleasurable.
