What's new

nobility brush

I was wondering if anyone here knew much about Nobility brushes. I picked a boar bristle up from ebay NOS. Looks good in pics and price was right, but I was wondering if anyone new the history of these brushes. It's marked West Germany as can be seen in the Pics.

It is actually marked West Germany, so you can say it was made somewhere from the late 40's to the late 80's. I believe since 1990 we are again only one country...

oops your right of course I read one thing and wrote another. I edited OP.

I have this wood handled boar brush in a chrome case that also came from West Germany. It doesn't have the name 'Nobility' on it, but the label sure looks similar.

That is a beautiful brush. I wonder if they are still being made?
I doubt it. I did a Google search and the only relevant link was this thread.

It sure does. I think I've seen a similar brush with the same label and stain but in a different shape. I think my brush is painted and stained wood also.

I like that red portion of the handle quite a bit. Nice score.
Yeah the red is what drew me to that brush, I'm planning on giving it to my father for Christmas. I think it will compliment his redtip nicely.

I'm a compulsive ebay browser and vintage shaving brushes are some of the things I look for. I've seen several West German brushes similar to your Nobility (although not in as nice condition) over the last year. Only a few had a manufacturer's identification and they were labeled as made by Sekine or Cutlery World.

The stain and label design on beelzulbub's brush is similar to brushes from Cutlery World. I don't know if they made them themselves or sourced them from elsewhere.
