No serial on Old Type?

I'm positive that I've read about this in other threads, but can't find them. So I'll bring up the topic again.

Just received this Old style Gillette. The seller had mentioned the cracks in the handle, and the pictures showed plating loss, but I was only looking for shave grade. I cleaned it up, fixed the handle with epoxy, and it doesn't look half bad. Will shave with it later.

Acccording to the wiki, there really ought to be a date code. There's nothing, though. Just the diamond Gillette logo and made in the USA on the back of the back plate. Nothing else anywhere else. So where does that put it?

Old Type Pocket Edition razors made after the New Improved were introduced did not carry serial numbers. Only the NI razors had serials then, except for a period in the late '20s.

With no SN or date codes there is no way to date them except by range.

Still makes for a nice razor and a great shave!

+1 on what those fellers said.

The ones without serial numbers were made from August 1921-1929 as best I know. My daily shaver is the same model.
