What's new

No longer bored. I've turned in a new direction.

A few weeks ago I posted that I had become bored with my current fragrances.
The ones I like, I still like, but others just don't thrill me like they used to.

There was one idea I was toying with.....

and so, to make a long story short (too late!) I purchased some samples of Oud.

Now I'm not professing my love for oud as of yet.
It's too early in the game. Today is my first wearing (a light one at that) of Jinkoh To Byakudan from Agar Aura.
I will say that I've never found a fragrance that has changed and morphed as much as this.
It started off smokey. Really smokey. But then it became kind of sweet. Now I'm picking up incense.
At one time earlier on I could have thought I was standing in the Jungle.
The wood notes were so resinous (is that a word?) it was scary.

The interesting thing is that it feels like this fragrance is alive. It's changing, but it never loses anything that it had.

More updates to follow.

Now I'm in a full on incense smell but it's smooth.
kind of sweet and still very woody at the base.
kind of like an incense smoothie if you can imagine that.

No need to push you. You are falling down the slippery slope all on your own. You picked a good one to start with, too.

That's one of my favorites. Taha said he could make another batch if I wanted to buy a couple bottles worth, but as I'd just purchased Aquatica (also great), told him it would have to wait...a long while.

Oud is fantastic. Your wallet won't like it though.

I've been interested for a long time. I've been doing my reading and I think I'm prepared for the journey.
So far, the first steps have been quite exciting.

My wallet screams every time I come near it.
We are not friends anymore.

You won't be a lone on this journey. There are a few gents on these boards with an extensive knowledge of the oud world that can share the enjoyment with you and point you in the right direction!

I enjoy some of the scents, but I just could never wrap my head around actually wearing the scent as a fragrance.

It will be interesting to see your take on them.
