Got a 31064 y/day in trade from WakeBoarder and its really very good. So good in fact that I've just ordered a No 48! I do know that the 31064 is a finer grade of hair but am assuming this will mean a stiffer knot from the 48, which should wear-in nicely. What put me off the Omegas was the styling but I don't mind that now I realise how good they are. I suppose my question is, is there a qualitative difference in feel/style between the two, or is the 31064 just a bit softer with a different handle?

Oh well, I'm sure I'll find out when it arrives.
I think you will find that the 31064 bristles are a bit softer to start. The 48 wll probably take a little longer to break in and soften up. I have two Omega brushes, one being the 31064. I like them both and they are some of the best values in shaving brushes.
