Nice results with Gillette Slide and "nearly" ATG

For most of my neck I can't go directly ATG without too much irritation, but skipping ATG leaves more stubble than I prefer. Now I've discovered that I can go "nearly" ATG -- like ten degrees off of directly ATG and combine that with Gillette slide to get nice results.

Just thought I'd pass this along. The first time I tried the Gillette slide was on my cheeks and WTG and I frankly didn't see the point.

For me, that "Gillette slide" is XTG, so it makes sense. My second pass is XTG on my cheeks and ATG on my neck. That gets the job done beautifully in two passes. As usual, YMMV.

Hmmm... its really not XTG the way I do it. Further elaboration:

I set the razor onto my face with the blade perpendicular to the stubble, in the position that would normally be used for ATG. Instead of moving the razor parallel to the handle (which would be "exactly ATG"), I move the razor maybe 10 or (at most) 20 degrees to the right or left of the handle. So this is a Gillette slide with the blade "facing" exactly ATG but "moving" slightly off of ATG.

...All of this makes a surprising difference from just going directly ATG. At least for me :thumbup1:

Well, I'll be..... This just goes to show that it is possible for anyone to learn something new, if they just pay attention. Thanks.

You seem to have similar problems as me. If I go from back to front across my face I get terrible irritation. So now I do one pass of top to bottom, one pass using the Gillette Slide and my last pass is bottom to top. I get a very close and comfortable shave.

Love the slide, and you can use it WTG, XTG or ATG. I think arguing over whether or not it is actually ATG because of the angle is just splitting hairs, (no pun intended).

Like it or love it, everyone should give it a try. I use J-hook strokes also when shaving ATG in two spots that have a swirl.

The Gillette Slide SAVED MY LIFE. I almost gave up before I discovered that it worked for me.
