Nice find

So my girlfriend found her Grandpa's old razor and it turned out to be a Fat Boy, it was pretty filthy after sitting for years. I gave it a soak, scrubbed with toothpaste and toothbrush, and a quick polish... and it's actually in pretty good shape. There's no brassing but a little plate loss and pitting on external parts of the head(sorry no pics). The numbers are great up until 5 and then starts to fade on the 7 and 9. Tried it out today and I have to say it's pretty smooth, except it's a little to hefty for me comparing it to my HD. I'll add it to my collection if she gives it to me, but I was wondering if the adjustable slims are comparable to this without the extra weight? I just might have to pick one up even though I wasn't planning on it I kinda like the feel of it.

Nice, but don't break up with her or she'll probably want it back. I didn't want to buy my FB, but I just had to find out for myself. I actually preferred the longer handled Slim over the FB, but eventually lost interest in both adjustables. My most used is a SS and second the HD (my first two DE's). Only 1 or 2 of my other 7 see occasional use.

Good find there. I would give the slim ago to work out what you feel more comfortable..

Some will find the slim is better suited to them whilst others will find the FB to be their choice...

Haha! My daily shaver is also an SS and my others razors actually haven't seen the light of day in a while. It was nice having something different for a change, been keeping to the same routine for too long.

Check out this link for a little more information on the differences between a FatBoy and a Slim. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=94034 . The Slim is a little lighter and the handle is a little longer on the Slim than the FatBoy. The profile of the head on the Slim is slightly smaller as well.

I agree. "Something different for a change" was my reason for switching to DE in the first place. But with nine DE's I think I finally have enough "change" in reserve should I need it.
