Nib Acquisitions for December 2012

I need to get a picture tomorrow, but my TWSBi Mini Classic with fine nib and 2013 Rhodia weekly planner arrived Saturday. Hoping to add a few more entries to the thread this month.

Carolina Blue Franklin-Christoph #27 Collegia with a medium stub nib. Now I just have to figure out what ink to put in it!

Just picked up one of these Sheaffer Preludes from a nearby shop. Time to work on my cursive writing.

Just hit the antique stores. Not much shaving stuff, but I did get this Mk III English Parker 51 which seems to work well, and this Vac which will need a restore.

Thanks. I'm trying to yoink all the vacs I see for a good enough price. I had to buy some tools and stuff to fix one a few weeks ago, so now I have to do a couple more to justify that expense. My first attempt at replacing the diaphragm was a moderate success (the pen works, but doesn't suck up as much ink as I think it should. I'm still learning.) This one should be better, now that I know what to expect.

I wanted to pick up the Vac tools myself. Only place I found them was a guy in Canada. Did you find them in Australia?

No. I got the filler removal tool on ebay, a guy in New Mexico who makes them himself. He does not seem to have any listed now. It is a pretty basic design, but it worked.

To insert the diaphragm ball into the cup I used a cuetip stick, and to fold the diaphragm back on itself I used a pen refill with the right diameter.

The hardest thing was cleaning the petrified residual diaphragm remains from inside the barrel. There must be an easier way to do that which I don't know.

I got a few dental tools from my dentist.
