Next Acquisition Advice...

So I've been using a Weishi razor with Speik shaving cream and its not too bad to start off with (it's almost impossible to cut myself with it) but it's not the closest shave. I'm finding it doesn't work well with my beard. I'm ready to move up but do I go with a bar or open comb? I've got my eye on the Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Safety Razor but does it work well with thick whiskers?

Any advice?

I also recommend the 34C. You could also try a Merkur 1904 open comb. I actually prefer that to my 34C. I think either one will serve you well.
