Newbie wolma straight razor

Hi I am new to the forum and would just like a bit of advice.

I have used saftey razors for a few years and just bought a vintage straight from a car boot. Firstly it's a wolma special with some pitting on the blade and a small nick in the blade. It's not very sharp I was wonderng if it's ok to start with? And would the nick be able to be "honed" out? Thanks in advanced and great forum good collection of reviews and info!! Andy

Nicks can be honed out. If there is deep pitting near the cutting edge it will be hard to hone the razor up.

Pcitures would help. You better send it to a honemeister as you are new to this.

Welcome to B&B!

The blade doesn't look so bad. I'm unsure if it's savable... If those black spots near the edge are water stains, no problems. If it's pitting, it could be a problem...

Your best call would be to discuss it with a Honemeister to restore and hone the blade. You can shop for a strop in the interim.

Thanks for your help. Can anyone on here hone? I will pay. Thanks

Click on the Honemeister link provided in my previous post, it will give you a list of honemeisters. My recommendation would be to pick one of them. In my case, I always try to go for a local worker...
