newbie to DE shaving...

hello friends.

i am new to DE shaving. can someone suggest a decent blade for me. I know this is a personal choice.
any feedback from you guys will be truly appreciated

presently, i have Parker 22R Double Edge Butterfly Safety Razor
and have used the shark and Merkur blades
but cant decide what is good for me

kindly help

The best solution for you would be getting a sampler blade pack from WSC or anyone who carries sampler packs. Then you can choose your blade. Everything depends on sharpness, smoothness, irritation free, sensation.

I think many people would agree to this! Once you find the blade that goes well with your parker, then stick to it.

today i used the shark DE blade and i got a very close shave.
i went against the grain after studying som videos on youtube.

never before had such a close shave...

Either pick up a sample pack or just pick up a couple brands at a time to try.

My Parker SRW came with Shark blades, and I'd put them as a close tie with Derby (consistent quality shave out of the package). Tonight's shave just put derby down into 2nd

It's all going to be a combination of the razor used, the blade used (1st shave, 2nd shave, 3rd shave, corked or not), the angle and pressure as technique improves (just because the blade doesn't work early on in the journey doesn't mean it won't work in 2-3 months), as well as your prep and lather...
it's never a single point of failure, it's an art form.

Just remember, there are always folks with blades on the B/S/T. If you give a blade an honest shot and it doesn't work for you, you can always sell em or gift em. Once you find the blade that works, you can always look for a backup brand or get rid of the other brands.

i also have a Merkur Hd Classic "barber Pole" Long Safety Razor-#38c.. and Parker 22R Double Edge Butterfly Safety Razor

is true that the blade that works better in the first razor might not be good for the second one ??

i mean does the razor really count or its just the blade that matters

both the razor i have are new and seem to be of decent quality, merkur and parker, i mean

I highly recommend the sampler packs from WCS....and they are truly wonderful people to deal with.
