Newbie requesting help identifying a travel razor

Hi all.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and ask for some help identifying a razor.

Firstly, a very quick introduction. I've been wet shaving since I first got whiskers, 28 years or so ago (apart from a handful of months with an electric razor <shudder>), but am very new to DE shaving. I started about a month ago and LOVE it so far. Bought an Edwin Jagger DE89bl and am thrilled with it. Since then I've been buying various items (badger brush, soaps, lotions, blades etc.) and think I'm hooked, :001_smile

OK - on to the razor.

I recently came across this in a cupboard at my mother's house. I think it may have been my grandfather's and have a feeling it might have been an army-issue razor. However, I'm sketchy on this, at best. He fought in World War 2 and served with the British Army. I can't see any markings on it at all, which doesn't help matters, but I'm not really sure where to look for these.

I included the blade in the photo, as this is the one I found in it. Although this is presumably newer than the razor, it might give some clue as to year, if Gillette marked these in some ways.

Any help greatly received.

Many thanks both. I've just come across another similar thread with a few images of other similar razors. The common consensus of opinion appears to be that razors of this style are German, which agrees with your views.

I just wish there was a manufacturers mark on it.

All the best.
