Newbie Looking for "Classic"Type Aftershave

What would be an aftershave for when I'm in an old-timey mood, something similar to what my grandfather might have used in the 1920's. Thanks, gents!

Caswell-Massey Number Six. If it was good enough for George Washington, I bet it was good enough for your gramps.

Or, if you are feeling in a nautical mood, Old Spice (Shulton variety if you have it)

YMMV.

My pic would be aqua velvet ice blue. I am lucky this is a new scent for my no one I knew never used it so I don't cringe like some ppl do. Plus it works and its cheap. Don't forget garys samples on B&B.

Hmmm, the 1920's, you say, huh?

Bay rum, definitely. There are dozens of varieties out there and they don't smell much alike, but they're all bay rums, and bay rum is GOOD stuff. Captain's Choice is great, and actually made by a member here. I would rate it 11/10.

Here's one that was around then, but I'll bet you'd never think of it: Skin Bracer. Yup, that old green bottle on the drug store shelf has been around the block a few times.

For many guys, the scent that triggers memories of that "old barbershop" more than any other is Pinaud Clubman. I'm personally not a fan, but I'm in the minority there.

That's it off the top of my head, but "m sure I'm missing lots. Luckily, there will be many more coming by to fill in the gaps. Good luck, and enjoy!!:thumbup1:

Most of the Clubman range do it for me. As mentioned original Old Spice is timeless too. Bay Rum, not for me but might be you.
A lot of the fun so far for me has been the aftershaves.

Lot's of great suggestions in this thread. The great thing about old-timey drug store aftershaves is that they are inexpensive. Head on down to your local CVS/Walgreens and stock up on Skin Bracer, Aqua Velva, AV Musk and Pinaud Clubman. All of them work well (ymmv) and smell great like an old man should!

All of the above are great choices. But, if your grandfather was a bit well-off, you can also consider English classics such as Penhaligon's aftershaves (Blenheim bouquet is a lovely one)
