A Slim from 1962 was my first vintage razor back in 2014, and I still use it every 2 weeks in my rotation. Personna Red and Lab Blue blades work very well in it. I may have tried a Feather at one point. When I first got the razor I shaved with setting 1, then 3, then 5, going up with each pass. Then I reversed the order, and my shaves improved. Recently I've been setting it on 7, then 6, then 5, which method also returns a great shave.
Or you could simply find which setting works best for you, and leave it there!
