Newbie brush problems

So I purchased an Art of Shaving trial kit for $25 with the coupon for $25 off the full sized kit next time. I started using the products before I started straight shaving, and really liked it. I have since started using a shavette that I'm getting better with but as I near the end of the shaving cream, I have noticed that my brush is losing some bristles and some are flairing out too far for my liking. Are these things common problems? I don't really want to purchase another one of I'm just gonna have the problem again. I have to be very budget conscious at this point, so I'm gonna have to make it last a bit longer anyways, but what am I looking for when I get there? I'm still using the cream, but was thinking about trying soap instead. Will that matter? Thanks in advance

It's to be expected that their trail brush would not last forever. There are plenty of good boar brushes that can be had cheap. And there are lots of soaps that will run you $15 and last many months. AOS is expensive, and all their stuff is overpriced (hardware at least), so that place may not be for you.

I recently ordered a Omega bore from Italian Barber for $7 that gets great reviews.
But you can pick up a VDH boar brush from Walmart for less than $10 or a basic VDH Badger from Target for probably a little bit more than that.
