What's new

Newb steps it up with a Shavemac!

Well I took the plunge! After hearing everybody rave about these shave macs I bought one from West Coast Shaving and got it today.

It's the model #25 with a 23mm knot (think model #177 with a slightly different handle). It looks to be about the same size as the AOS "pure badger" brush that I broke into wet shaving with, but let me tell you that's where the similarities end!

The shavemac is silvertip incredibly soft and so much denser. The shave I got today was a heck of a lot more enjoyable without the harsher AOS pure badger brush. I have to say I think I might be able to avoid the brush acquisition disorder/syndrome some have lamented about on this forum with this purchase. IMHO.....This thing rocks!

The AOS brushes (I had the one from the $100 kit) look like a good way to break into wet shaving.....but for a reasonable price I feel like I just took my game to a whole new (not to mention much more enjoyable) level!

Just thought I'd share another "satisfied Shavemac story" with you guys.:biggrin1:

Best!

Chris

Thanks glad to be here! Awesome forum. Between this and Mantic's videos I feel like I have a solid support group for any shaving questions that come up! BTW I just saw Mantic has a 2 new videos from his vegas trip that I have to check out on a barbershop shave! Love that guy and his "no BS approach" to shaving :)

I too just recently upgraded from a Vulfix best to a ShaveMac 177 SilverTip.

I will rotate these 2 brushes, It is good to have a less expensive brush to appreciated the Silver Tip, I must say!

Congrats! The #25 is the best handle shape Shavemac makes. I know "best" is a general, anomalous term, but that's what the #25 is. I don't make the rules. That's just how it is (in my world). Here's some #25age for your consideration.

I definitely agree with this. I really enjoy my Rooney 1/1 Super Silvertip, and it compliments a Shavemac Finest or Silvertip nicely.

I just got my Shavemac #177 Silvertip 23mm yesterday and this brush looks very close to the #25. My previous brush was A Vulfix 2234S and I am in shock what $40 extra dollars will get you! I love the faux horn handle on mine.

Congrats on the good purchase. I went the same route as you, starting with and AOS pure and then upgrading to a Shavemac. The difference is amazing. I now have this custom beauty on the way from Bernd.

I really like the way he provides a pic of the brush before you actually recieve it. Gives you something to drool over.

Wow ! Lots of Shavemac fans in the house! And apparently lots of rabid Rooney fans as well. :001_smile I gotta think they must be kind of similiar in there awesome-ness since the loyalty for both are so strong. Guess the next two purchases with regard to my newly diagnosed "B.A.D." disease will have to be a silvertip Rooney and a silvertip Saville Row 3824. Then those three can fight it out for my love and affection. Of course I will also need to take more student loans but hey! It's worth it right ?!? :biggrin1:

and wow! I totally agree the difference over the AOS is night and day. Not even sure I can use that brush anymore. Seems more fitting to scrubbing counters now, painting walls etc. I think the days of exfoliating six layers of epidermal cells off my face have come to an abrupt end after a couple of days with the MAC.
