Newb seeking advice !

As some of you know I'm new to traditional wet shaving. I've been shaving every other day recently but for some reason or another it has been 3 days since I have , it will be 4 tomorrow. With that amount of growth is it necessary to trim my beard down with a trimmer ? Or should I just go at it with my DE after a shower ? I feel like when I've used my trimmer before shaving in the past I ended up with poor results.

Just go for it!
At least I do, and there are plenty of times I go 3-4 days. Just go easy and let the (new) blade do the work.

I find that a complete with the grain pass ,first, will get most of the extra growth.

I agree with what has been posted already. When I have that much growth I just toss in a new blade and have at it. So far it has always worked out.

Thanks for the advice guys ! UnCL3 my blade I have now has been used for one 2 pass shave, think that'd would work ?

Ok I think I'll give it a try tomorrow ! Think I need to put a new blade in or will the one I have in that's been used once be fine ?

That blade should be fine.

Maybe, just maybe, it might be a good time to look into the Gillette Slide technique. But only if you feel confident enough with your razor.

The Gillette Slide has been working very well for me to get through my beard when I didn't shave for a day or two. Haven't tried it with a 3 or 4 day old beard, yet.

Just go for it. I've found that some of my smoothest shaves are on Monday mornings after a hot shower and a couple of days worth of growth.

Hey guys I had something come up, looks like it might have to be tomorrow. Think I'd be good to go still with an extra day ? Or should I trim before ?

Don't worry about trimming at all. The DE will _not_ clog up and choke like a cartridge would. You can easily mow down even a week's growth with a DE.

You may have to rinse the razor little more frequently. Other than that the razor will take care of the beard.
