New Watch

Sorry to say this but they are Chinese made watches made to look expensive. Not exactly the cat's meow. You would have been better off getting a Seiko or Citizen.

Of course this is what watch guys will tell you. if you're not into watches and you like it just wear it and enjoy it and don't ask for opinions on sites frequented by watch guys.

Gee what a buzz kill but I agree.

I tend to disagree, chinese watches these days are perfectly serviceable. I started out with a walmart armitron with a chinese seagull movement. If nothing else, you'll end up with WAD and a half dozen more before you realize it :tongue_sm

Seagull movements are starting to gain popularity. Nevertheless, like Chinese fountain pens, they can be hit or miss.

Good advice. Just wear the watch and enjoy. It doesn't matter what us WIS's think
Of course, when you ask what someone thinks, don't be surprised if your feelings get hurt either.

I investigated the brand once before and ultimately passed.
They certainly look nice.
Is this the start of a collection?
If so, take the advice of the gentlemen here, they know their stuff.

Just thought I would offer up my two cents as someone who owns a few fairly similar pieces.

I have a relatively large watch collection which contains some very nice pieces, and some pieces which just look very nice. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoy all of my watches regardless of how "quality" they are.

Today I am wearing a $90 Lucien Piccard Automatic (might have been less now that I think about it). The movement in the LP isn't much to write home about, but it looks very nice and when I purchased it, I knew I was buying a $90 watch which looked much more expensive. In the end, if it dies in 2 or 3 years, well, it won't really be worth repairing, but I would feel comfortable in that I got a lot of good wear out of the piece for what amounts to a very small investment. My Omega on the other hand, I don't expect that to die any time soon but that's what I paid for.

For me, it comes down to the below:

Do you like the way it looks?
Are you comfortable with what you paid?
Do you understand the "quality" to price ratio?

If you can answer yes to at least 1 and 2, I'd say you're in good shape. I've thought about purchasing a Stuhrling myself but never got around to looking into them much.

Theologia14, you asked us what we think. Well, if you get it, and you put it on and it suits you and you love it, then I think it's an awesome watch. Congratulations on your purchase!

It's pretty and you should enjoy it. It's not a Rolex, but you knew that. I've got a "cheap Chinese watch" that has lasted 5 years with no problems and looks way more expensive than it is.
