New Tony Miller

I just received my latigo/linen Tony Miller strop. Tony, thank you! Top-flight workmanship, beautiful design, a dandy! Darned if I know if it will make my straight any sharper, but it sure will be a pleasure to use. This is what I should have bought in the first place.

Yeah....I love my TM latigo. :thumbup1:
But, I'm still wanting a TM horsehide.

Exactly! I believe a Miller Horsehide Strop will be my personal 50th Birthday Gift to MYSELF! I have 10 plus months to save up for it.

I already have the Latigo Strop myself AND a T.M. Paddle Strop. They are heirlooms indeed.

Just placed my order for the 3" horsehide with the smooth cotton option. It's gonna look great hanging next to my 3" Red Latigo.

I see... any reason why I should pick the KR filly over a Tony Miller?

If its your first strop, you are 99% likely to nick it. This means youre going to take a chunk out of it. The Filly strop is a great strop and cost $20, so you dont lose much when you nick it (which destorys the strop). However, if you get a $60 or $100 TM strop, and you nick it, you are in it deep and you will then have to buy a replacement piece of leather. However, if you get a TM strop, just be sure to pay the extra $8 and get the practice strop with it. Its a good choice to not jump right in on an expensive strop.

Another gentlemen gave the same advice in another thread. I will most definitely get a practice strop!

I got my TM red latigo/linen from the end of Jan release. The craftsmanship is unreal. :thumbup1:

I'm not usually one to keep things unused because they are "nice". Being my first strop and all I couldn't bring myself to use it.

To combat my fear of nicking the strop I ordered a strop from straight razor designs. Of course I needed a new razor to go with it (dovo red bismark 5/8)

Someday I'll use the TM. :biggrin1:
