Hello from Tennessee. I have been shaving with a safety double edged razor for a while know and am wanting to move into straight razors. I have contacted Larry with whippeddog.com and am waiting to hear back so I can order my first solid blade straight razor and strop kit. Too excited, any tips for a newbie like me?

Seems the trick is to keep the edge as sharp as it is when recieved. This thread describes a fairly inexpensive and reliable way of going about it. Plan to follow its advice myself when the time comes.
