What's new

New TM strop.

Just arrived yesterday. Obviously the craftsmanship is perfect. Not a grain of leather out of place on any cuts or stitching. The hardware is heavy duty and high polished. But what stuns me is the feel of leather and linen. I've only used a poor mans strop and an unknown thick leather strop before. This leather feels like the razor is on a cloud. So light feeling compared to the other ones. Flexible and soft. The linen is very audible and can't wait to give it a good lashing with a few newly coti honed razors.

Holy cow!!! Must not buy another strop! Seriously nice strop there, is that his new "starter" strop?

Tony's strops are not easy to come by. Get one while you can. Tony does it because he loves it, it is not his "day job", and he has been slowing down in recent months.

I don't believe it is his starter strop that is talked about on the $25 strop thread. It actually wasn't too long of a wait at all. I placed the order three weeks ago while he was on vacation and that is including a few days till he got the email. Also this is the 2.5" strop. Originally I wanted the 3" with a 2.5" linen as he no longer has the 3" linen component. He really has pride in his work because he said he would not want to make it unless it is to his specs and did not want to mix the width of materials. I also read in that timeframe of ordering that 2.5" is "a more versatile" width so I went with that. Now getting it, it almost seems wider than I would have imagined. Not much x-pattern needed. I almost thought it is 2.75" by the feel of stropping.

And it's hard to tell from the pics but the linen and leather are seperate components and handles. (Not back to back)

I'm still considering one of his starter strops for travel, but honestly, I already own two Kanayama and two of Tony's, one of each is in the travel kit.

Mine do not have handles. I was nervous about the Kanayama not having handles, but I ended up liking it so much that I ordered my TM without as well.
After using them for over a year, I don't see the need. The "barber's end" is just fine.
