New strop treatment

I just took the plunge and bought my self a good old American made Fromm cowhide strop. I’d like to know the best way to prepare it prior to initial use. Should I apply white paste to the linen side? How about CrOx green to the smooth leather side? Any advice would be nice

I use Balsa wood strops for CrOx and such, and leave the leather and linen untouched.

I give it a good rub with the palm of my hand, and I'd do that pre strop every day.... Everything your strop needs is already in it.

Just rub it with your palm daily, that's it. No need for strop dressings/conditioners etc.

Ah. Cool beans. Palm the smooth or rough side of the leather? Any tips on maintenance of either side?

Just the smooth side. Strops don't need much..

After a couple of years, a drop of Neats Foot oil on your palm and rub it in.
