Sweet offer. Love the original Speick, and the various creams are my favorite part of traditional shaving. Would love to participate.

I received the Speick Active sample yesterday and was eager to give it a shot.
The first thing noticed when opening the sample was that the scent was unmistakably Speick but a lighter version than the stick.
On to the test! My equipment was a B&B Essential Boar brush, salsa bowl, and a 1912 Everready with an SS blade used about 10 times. My comparisons are made to a Speick stick that was milled, one of my favorite soaps.
Snurdling a small dollop into my bowl, I started to slowly add water and get a feel for how much it would need. The scent diluted some with the addition of the water and it was pleasant and not overpowering. The lather had a good slickness with slightly less perceived cushion than the Speick stick. That might change as I dial in the hydration a little better. I did manage an irritation free, DFS in 3 passes with touchups, so the cream was definitely doing a great job. Using the last of the lather, I let it sit on my face while cleaning up and after rinsing, my face felt soft, smooth and refreshed.
I was glad to have the opportunity to try this cream and would not hesitate to purchase it in the future.

My sample arrived this morning...post shave. Will have to wait until tomorrow morning to give it a shot. Opening the container, it is unmistakeably a Speick product. The cream smells a bit lighter and fresher but still retains the Speick undertone. More later when I get to actually use it.

Sample came today. I have not yet had the chance to use it. I think that I will shave with it on Monday. Will take some pics and talk about what I felt

Well, had my first shave with this cream today. Like I said in my post above, this is definitely a Speick product. The cream seems a bit lighter in consistency than the original, but whipping the lather with a well broken-in boar was pretty much the same experience as the classic version. It takes more product than some of the higher end creams but once its whipped up, not much beats it. It has a lighter, almost citrus-like, scent over top of the classic Speick extract scent. Very nice. And the scent, while not overpowering, lingered for some time.

As far as the shave, again classic Speick. Very slick and good cushion. No weepers (usually don't) through 3 passes, using a Fat Boy set on 5 along with a fresh Astra blade. I had let my beard go a day so that I would have a full first experience this morning. First pass was acceptable, then rinse and apply cream for second pass. Wow, did this stuff slick up on this pass. Very nice, as was the third pass. Result was a DFS on a relaxing Sunday morning.

If I had any small negative thing to say, it would be that, like original Speick, this cream takes a bit to get going in hard water. In rinsing, it leaves a film on my brush and bowl. But to be honest, many of my creams do this, AOS being the worst offender. So, I do an extra thorough rinsing and wiping for the film, and I'm a happy camper.

Thanks, Xillion, for the opportunity to try this cream. I think I'll be buying this one next.

(Sorry for the lack of pictures)

Ok well, my first shave with the cream is done. This is my first time trying a Speick Product so I cannot compare it other Speick's. In the container, it has just a "clean" smell. Once lathered up though, it has a very light fragrant smell. Definitely has hints of citrus in it which I love. It lathered up fairly easily, didn't give me too many problems. Felt wonderful on my face. If lathered right, it has both cushion and glide. It definitely made my shave very enjoyable. I did have a few nicks and weepers but I blame that more on the R41 which I haven't picked up in a while along with a Personna blade which maybe should have been replaced than on the cream. I will definitely be ordering some soon. Maybe some for my dad since he travels and this is in a tube which makes it a little easier.

I'd like to publicly thank Xillion for offering me this opportunity. Few people would take the time out of their day to offer to send out some of their own product. It is greatly appreciated!

Shaved with the Speick Men Active today. Lather was hard for me to build with it this morning. The lather ended up being great but took longer than it usually does with other creams I've use in the past. Glided well and had no nicks, weepers, or irritation with my NEW and a feather.

Thanks to Xillion for the gentlemanly PIF.
