Well I finally pulled the trigger on A Shavemac D01 (2 band, 26mm knot classic that is listed on his website). I had tried to e-mail Bernd for a custom job, but no reply for 3 weeks, so I went non-custom. I love my Shavemac XXL silvertip, and am looking forward to comparing it with my new D01. I typed a request in the ordering comments for the shipment to be labled as "shaving products" instead of badger, since my last brush from Shavemac got held up in customs in Tenn. for over a week.

Don't want to hijack your post, mine arrived today (34/57) next to a Polo 14 (34/70 (left). Post pics of your when you get it!
Wow, this is a beautiful brush! What are the specs? It can't be a 34mm knot and a 57mm loft...
Strange, huh? Their site lists 30mm as the largest knot but my vernier calipers indicate 34mm....it's happened to me with another brush that they underestimate knot sizes...

Oh. Well, what did you order it as? And did you specify a custom loft size in your order?
The knot size isn't measured at the top of the handle, it is measured as the lowermost (and "thinnest") part of the knot, deep inside the handle.
So you can't really get a true measurement of the knot size on the finished product.

Every once in a while someone will measure one of their brushes with some calipers and realize that it doesn't measure out to exactly 22mm or whatever.
...Then you start measuring other brushes and realize that not a single one is "right"!
(For all practical purposes, this is an exaggeration - it all depends on how the knot is set into the handle.
Some brushes' measurements appear much closer to the advertised value, and some appear larger.)
