New Scale Suggestions

Hi, fellas. I have a couple of months to think about this, but I'm planning on getting my Taylor Wedge restored and the scales replaced.

Yohann (MajorBurns) was nice enough to let me try this one out before I had the money to pay him for it. Thanks, Yohann! BTW, it's a great shaver.

I have some ebony gifted from a friend that I plan to use for the scales.

Here's a pic of the razor as it is now....

I would like to ask for suggestions (i.e. example pics) of potential scale shapes. Thanks!

copy what you got I say. that there's a good shape.

Exactly.. I would copy that.. personally I would make the Toe end a little wider and do a double pin in it but I just like that look so it would be more cosmetic than anything else.

I am big fan of that square styled toe. If you square it out enough you can do two pins upront, it looks very good. So my vote is for the original shape with a little modification! Nice razor :thumbup1:

Something kinda like this, but not as swoopy, make the whole scale more squared like your original scales.

I like more classic scale styles, so I'd just copy what you have and pin it with stacked washers. No double pins for me. Also, I think the scales would look better if they were just a tiny bit wider, but the wideness should taper from not wider than the original design at the tang end to a little wider in the middle to a little more than "a little wider" at the wedge end. I think it'd look pretty awesome. What I have in mind is basically the style of scales that were on most of the old W&B choppers I've seen (i.e. a slightly beefier version of your scales with a still delicate tang end).

Your decisions should depend on what shapes you like, though.

I know exactly what you mean! Those old chopper scales look great! The toe end of them reminds me of big thumbs lol.
