Yates Razor

Today I ran into a buddy of mine and he threw a razor at me and said use it let me know how it is.

Don’t know who the maker is or any thing regarding specs. First shave down and wow no disappointment there. Whomever designed the razor knows exactly what to do. There is some positive blade exposure but it was smooth at the same time. Usually a new razor may yield a weeper or two some irritation but not in this case. It is slightly more aggressive then a 34c but efficiency wise is on a different level. Also I asked what’s with the finish on the razor. He said it’s machine washed finish looks different then regular machined finish and grippy even with soapy hands.

Googled YPM Razor and found it at the first link for Yates Precision Manufacturing. 316 stainless steel.

Stone wash finish looks cool. Head is nice. Handle just looks oddly thin.

I will use the razor again tomorrow but from today’s shave it felt like wtg pass yielded similar results as compared to muhle R41 minus all that blade exposure and harshness. Was absolutely smooth.

I would like to know this too.

But unless one gets the polished version, not sure what handles would match [the stonewashed version].

So non-standard threading. Thanks very much, Shavemd. I like the top cap ... it has a nice unique shape, but the bulb shape at the bottom of the handle bugs me for some reason. How's it shave?

I'd like to get about 3-4 shaves in before I post but first shave impressions are it is very smooth and 2 pass plus touchup efficient
