We could do that.
It means looking at the configuration for each subforum, which would take some time.
I can tell you that The Welcome Badger does not populate the New Posts update.

And the answer is:
Obviously, if you do not have access to a particular forum, for example - the Contributor Forum if you are not a Contributor, you will not see new posts in those areas, but people with access to the area will see "New Posts" there.
All forums to which one has access will show New Posts when New Posts are selected EXCEPT for the following:
