New Pipe

I had some extra ebay bucks, so I ended up getting a Meerschaum corncob, and a cherry hardwood. Super cheap pipes, but they actually smoke pretty well. My local tobacconist also had some jars of their own blends of pipe tobacco. One was an english blend, with plenty of burley and Latakia and was very smoky and woodsy. The other was a very mild and smooth blend. I smelled some of the jars with different flavorings like chocolate and whiskey, but they were not for me at this point. I tend to like natural tobacco tastes and scents. Anyway, it was $3.25 an ounce, which is great compared to many tin prices. They also had a whole slew of different pipes, and many FAR cheaper than everywhere else I've seen, because they buy in bulk. I'll definitely be back there for a nice pipe sometime when I have the cash to spare. For now, I'm all set up!

Smoked the cherry Meerschaum and it was a very nice smoke for such a cheap pipe.

I'm glad to hear you were able to pick up some pipes and tobacco! So long as you can keep your PAD and TAD under control pipe smoking is as cheap as wet shaving. Also be sure to post pictures in the Tobacqusition page... as you know pics or it didn't happen

Some folks prefer briar over other hardwood pipes but I really enjoyed the hardwood pipes. The cherry from MM is stained cherry but its not cherry wood...Poplar I think.

Could be. It smokes a little hot, but now that I've got the tobacco packing down correctly, It smokes great with only the initial relight after tamping.
