New package for Williams

I am told there is to be a new package or art work for Williams Shave Soap. I was told it was coming out soon unless someone has already seen it.

Where did you hear this info? The only hit I get on Google is your post on Badger and Blade.

I just opened a box of Williams and put it in my shaving mug last night since My puck of VDH Deluxe was almost gone. I like the classic dark blue and white packaging.

I can't imagine why they'd bother after this long...seriously, though, hasn't the box been blue and white with the same frothy lathered mug and brush since this product came out? And it deserves more credit than it gets, even if it isn't the best performer, its still around for a reason. You just have to work it much more aggressively than other soaps, and maybe add some cream to it.

I too add cream to Williams in order for it to lather well.

To get a quality shave, I recommend a mixture of 99% Trumpers/Taylors/T&H and 1% Williams.

:lol::lol:

Is the 1% Williams really going to make that much of a difference?

I don't understand the point of this exercise, as Thumpers/ Taylors/ T and H are already top notch on their own, and don't need any assistance from Williams.

Why are people willing to go to so much bother to make a subpar product work?

Because some of us are stubborn and won't give up on something we paid for, even if its cheap and plentiful like Williams. Besides, I'm only mixing mine with Nivea extra-moisturizing cream, so nothing fancy or elaborate. A fitting partner to Williams. I would think the three T's are fine on their own, but I have yet to try any.

You have not yet tried a "T"? :ohmy:

For a mere 5 pounds shipped to the US (about 6 bucks), you can get a pack of sample Trumper's products, which are simply amazing. You will then realize what an absolute waste of a life it is to do anything with a puck of Williams other than use it the next time you go skeet shooting.

BTW, I checked out the Trumpers site to get you a link and found out that they dio not ship samples during the Christmas season.

But Taylor's can be had for about $14 a tub.

Williams, such as it is, is an American tradition that goes back to 1840. It can deliver a good lather and a good shave, and there is satisfaction in making it perform, since it isn't the easiest thing in the world to do.

I make fun of Williams, but it's in the rotation, and I am glad it's around.
