Could you give the exact web page, please?
I seem unable to find this new product.
Thanks.

Why would they make a razor with a stainless steel handle but a chrome head?

they must have seen the feather all stainless, the weird bit is that i always considered the 23c as the merkur tech equivalent, and the 34c as the superspeed equivalent,

I fully agree. It's a rather pointless design, especially if their intention is to compete with the all stainless design of the Feather.

Why would the end knob be chrome as well? (making for an oddball handle that is part stainless, and part chrome....huh??)

Because the casting temperature of Zamak3 (zinc alloy) is about 800 degrees while the casting temerature of Stain Steel is about 2750.
You can cast zinc in your kitchen, but casting SS requires technology/facilities Merkur doesn't possess.

Bob, I'm in no way trying to be rude, but do you know that? They make other things besides razors too.

I do know that Dovo/Merkur is a small company with under a 100 employees, you can google them and find that information.
Dovo makes cutlery which also doesn't require the casting of stainless steel.
My point being it is much more expensive to cast parts from stainless steel then it is to cast the same parts using zinc alloy.
With zinc you can use cast iron molds, with SS you need to use something with a higher melting temperature then what you casting.
For the most part Merkur/Dovo is producing designs that are 50 plus years old using the same methods and technology.
That they're going to make SS handles means that they probably acquired a CNC turning station (computer control lathe) which is also what Feather probably uses to make their handles.
The new handles will probably be much nicer then the existing handles, they'll probably have cut knurling instead of embossed knurling.

An all stainless steel razor would have been a must-buy (depending on the price), if it's the handle only, it's a must-touch-it-first.

Yep, all stainless steel like the feather would be great.

Actualy I would love a Future type (adj.) all stainless steel.

Okay thanks Bob.

I guess they need SOMETHING for the 2010 catalog. Last year it was the barrell-handles (which I actually like) and the long handled progress (for conversion to Mergress of course :blushing:). This will be a definite wait and see thing. Can't be a bad thing though.

Edit" Actually, I wish they would get to making an injector razor already instead of all the new DE and cart handles.

With all of this talk about stainless has anyone bought the Feather stainless DE? I am really considering the purchase but worried about the blade gap and angle. I am more of an adjustable kind of guy. Any thoughts?
