What's new

New Member & New Shaving Mug

Hi...I'm new to the forum, and have been enjoying getting familiar with the site.

My first shave with with my grandfather's Gillette DE safety razor. I used that for quite a while and eventually switched to a twin track and then multi blade razor. I've come back to my senses, and have decided to go back to the best.

So, I've taken Pop's old Gillette DE out of mothballs, picked up a tube of C.O. Bigelow, and am anxiously awaiting a new pewter shaving mug that I found online...picture below. It comes with a badger brush and shaving soap. I was pretty impressed with the mug based just on the picture, and thought it could be something I could hand down to one of my sons.

Looking forward to spending more time here.....

+1 on the mug. Sure beats having a porcelain bowl slip out of your hand and bust into a million and one pieces on the tile floor.

Welcome to B&B, glad your here.
Awesome mug! That soap is pretty good, you can pick it up at Walmart for about $1.50 so refills are a breeze.

What type of Razor is it that your taking out of retirement?

Welcome to B&B. That is a very nice looking lathering mug, there is just that special something about it. I hope you enjoy it here. I am a newbie to all of this myself. I have only been wetshaving two weeks now.

I'm trying to stick to Old Spice mugs, because if I give in and get a nice looking mug like that then it's Katy bar the door at the thrift shops.

Just today I passed up two low profile mugs, one featuring a vintage automobile graphic. Would have set me back a dollar for both, but once Mug Acquisition Disorder runs unchecked, there is no help for it.

BTW, there was a "My Father's Mustache" mug, with the little mustache restrainer built in to the top, that was going for seven bones because it was listed as a "shaving mug"...

Thanks to all for the kind welcome...Glad to be here! I found the mug while doing an on-line search for a pewter shaving mug. It's from a little "Country" store called A Simpler Time.

It set me back $80, and includes the brush and soap. I purchased a Colonial American style wooden wall cabinet for our bathroom from this company/store last year. Their products are of fine quality, great customer service, and prompt shipping.
