Indeed. The OP should remember that when he reads our recommendations. There are a lot of differences geographically from place to place (the "aloha shirt" that is "BC" in Hawaii is "underdressed" in Los Angeles and totally inappropriate in New York. And so forth.)
Very spot-on with geography. The bottom chart reflects codes in my neck of the woods (predominately agricultural area of the midwest), where even at a fancy restaurant you can get away with wearing your best overalls. It's hard to turn away a millionaire just because he doesn't have the wardrobe.
 
Just my opinion I don’t think people have been held back in their career because of their dress. Imo that is overplayed, maybe if you are trying to impress important clients. People tend to dress more casual now jeans are more common.
