New handle for Fatip Gentile

Hello gentlemen,

One quick question: Love the head on my Fatip Gentile but the handle is a slippery mess. I tried putting the bulldog handle from my Ikon but it seems to have a different treading and won't screw on. Is there a bulldog style handle compatible with the Gentile?

I've heard of people getting a vintage Durham safety razor for $10-15 just for the handle to use with a Fatip.

It would be great if someone made handles for the Fatip but I have not found any.

It is an unusual thread, 4.5 x 0.7mm against the more common 5.0 x 0.8mm. It may improve with use as the surface wears or just keep it dry. You could try a few "O" rings on the handle or rub your fingers on some alum.

You can also change the top cap and then you can use the handle you want.
Obviously that might change the geometry of the head if it doesn't have the same width and curvature.
Just play with what you have laying around see if it fits.

Applying alum on the fingers helps with gripping a slippery razor too.

I know. I have the Piccolo and wish it's handle was a little thicker.

I would have a go at that but then I would have to buy a lathe and a set of 4.5x0.7mm taps. Hope you haven't put such a stainless steel handle monstrosity on your Piccolo SE.

The M4.5 thread has a 0.75mm pitch.

I don't find the Gentile handle to be slippery, but I did find it to be too light. I cut a bolt (I believe it's just a 1/4 inch bolt that fits into the hollow handle) and epoxied it in there for weight. At one time I also owned a wooden handled Fatip, but I'm guessing that if you find the Gentile handle slippery you won't like the wooden ones.
