Evening!
New guy here from the generally very warm SW US. Now quite chilly.
I’ve been a wet shaver for quite a while, head and face. In my earlier years, disposables—wrecked my mug with irritation. Jumped to electric, not as bad with irritation but didn’t really do a good job. I figured, that was the way dice rolled for me. Then, I discovered wet shaving after I was given my grandpa’s Gillette ABC. No more irritation, clean and smooth. Never shaved with the ABC. I favor a Gem open comb on some days. But have been mostly using straights.
Recently, I have found myself on here reading quite a bit. Spontaneous combustion in 3..2..1, mostly about hones / arks. I grew up using arks for hunting knives / pocket knives—comfortable with them. Decent collection of Dans that see a lot of work. I do have a few synthetic hones, Suehiro Kouseki 10K and W&G 8K. Easy to get deep in the weeds on the topic. I figured I’d join, always room to learn.
Off the beaten track; Harley rider—been on two wheels most of my life, archery, shooting / avid reloader, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, student of thin blue smoke (BBQ) and pretty decent with a wrench.
Thanks for having me,
FJ
