New Gillette DE - Found in Houston, TX

FYI - was able to get one of these from my local Walgreens in Houston, TX. It was last one on the shelf so packaging was a bit damaged.

Would like to see some pictures with a blade loaded. Looking forward to a review of this razor; the handle looks like an ugly duckling.

Just finished up my first shave. I went in skeptical, as I usually prefer stainless steel products and honestly collect Gillette out of nostalgia. I usually don’t love the shave I get out of my Gillette collection. My go-to is either my Rex ambassador or GC 84. HOWEVER - this bad boy is better than any non-stainless razor I’ve ever used.

The handle feels solid and very heavy, maybe twice as heavy as my EJ... It is kind of slick though, so if your prone to dropping watch out. The rounded bottom was also unique. Without the handle, the head weight is very comparable with the EJ89.

I like this way more than any of my super speeds or techs. The blade angle was easier to find and the blade feel was a bit higher, which I prefer. I was able to shave ATG with ease, which usually isn’t the case with most razors. Made it out with no bumps or cuts.

I get that this may not attract all collectors, but to me I like the KCG logo on the top - this was more attractive than the heritage collection (even though that box was awesome).

By the way, I shaved with astra blades, not the provided blades. Didn’t want too many variables to start.

In my experience, spiral knurled razors can be slippery. Never liked the Sledge Hammer Slant for that reason.

Did you try the blades? are they any good

Btw, how does this razor (head) compare to EJ or Muhle 89 or the Gillette Heritage?

Any info is welcome.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like the head is a Merkur impostor, quality looks decent. Packaging is also good, except the “cropped” diamond, it hurts my eyes.

Geometry appears identical to my R89 clone from Classic Shaving.
