ok so the merkur 34c ,astra blades ,and skinfood 100ml have arrived just waiting on the TOBS sensitive black tub which hasnt shipped yet sadly but ill be giving them a try tommorow because i dont shave when im off from work ill let everyone know how it went. Just one quick question i know some people use the skinfood as a preshave i have a feeling that will be a waste because 20 dollars on a little bottle should i try it anyhow?

I use skin food as a post shave. This is my post shave routine: Warm water rinse, cold water rinse, dab my face with a towel (not so it's dry, but so there's a bit of moisture left), apply skin food, do some cleanup of equipment until face is dry, apply ASB.
Lots of people use an alum block before while their face is still wet, I prefer not to as it dries my skin out and amplifies any irritation I have. YMMV though.

Use it like an aftershave balm. A little will go a long way. Pea sized drop should be more than enough.
