New EJ89L

I got my new EJ89L from the English Shaving Company yesterday and cold barely wait until this morning to start shaving with it. I had an astra blade in my Merkur that only had 2 shaves on it so I loaded that into it. HOLY SMOKES this thing is smooth. It seemed to glide over my skin effortlessly, much more than my Merkur did. The result is that my face is almost BBS with no irritation. I think with some more practice with this particular razor will do even more wonders for me than it already has. I can't wait to shave with it again.

Mine came in today, 1 week from the UK. I'm going to use it tomorrow. I already have one so I know it will be a good shave.

It's almost too good looking to use. Puts my Merkur to shame. I ordered it a few weeks ago, but it didn't come in before I left for Korea (I knew it didn't have enought time, no fault of TESC) so I had to get my wife to mail it to me. I was ANXIOUSLY awaiting it until it came in yesterday. I almost shaved last night just to give it a go. I'm excited to shave with it again tomorrow.

I simply do consider the Edwin Jagger DE 89 as the finest modern Double Edge razor on the market.
It is beautifully engineered and balanced with a quality weighty feel and a superb Chrome finish.
The DE 89 truly delivers great, comfortable, close and irritation free shaves.:thumbup1:

Congrats! I've had much the same experience with the DE89L and I'm going to shave with it as soon as I get home. Of all the razors I own, the DE89L consistently gives me the best shaves. If you haven't already planned to, be sure to try a variety of blades in it. I've found that Feathers and Iridiums deliver incredible shaves in the DE89L.

I type in de89l in a search and I get Amazon with what appears to be 86s and more. Where does one find which is which? What is it to be "lined". Amazon has a lined razor and it looks the same and the other EJ silver in color. Thank for the info.

+1

Besides Super Iridium and Feather blades, try a Gillette Bleue Extra! Very smooth blade! Very much like the Super Iridium :thumbup1:

EJ89 lined version is the one that has head to end lines in the razor handle.

Its the one on the right. and the angle of the camera, light kinda make it look like it rotates around the handle, but it's straight up and down.

I've been using by DE89L for about two weeks ago. It truly is an exceptional razor in every regard. The style is elegant, the finish is beautiful, the shave is superb, and the price is very attractive.

Fantastic to hear, I just ordered my first razor, a DE89L, and am glad I seem to have made the right choice! Hadn't even heard of it until 24 hours ago when a few guys suggested it, thanks :) Can't wait to get it.

Great razor, also my first (the Muhle, with the black handle - R106).
Still a big, big favorite.

Did you notice there is a social group the 89ers here?

Thank you. I thought that "lined" refered to another peice in the head or something. It's just the asthetics then. Great. The photo is just what I needed.

I gather then that as many people here like their Murkers, they think that the Edwin Jagger products are a step finer.

I still don't know where a "catalog" with descriptions and so on for comparison can be found. I looked up the EJ on line and it's hard to find a copmrehensive product line. For the Murkers for that matter.

Perhaps my Google-fu is weak.

I think that The English Shaving Company is "the official supplier of Edwin Jagger shaving accessories" so probably everything available by EJ is here
