New Coors “shotgunnable can”

Ah memories, wish this was around during my college years!

The Coors Brewing Company announced today that they will soon begin offering Coors Light in a new “shotgunnable can” that will feature a second tab on its side to allow for easy shotgunning. Coors is aiming to rid binge drinkers of the tedious burden of searching for the air pocket in a can of beer before it’s punctured, as well as eliminate the possibility of a punctured beer spraying out all its beer before it can be shotgunned.

Every July, at a nest of dumpy cottages at Port Maitland, in Ontario (on Lake Erie), for the past 40 years or so, a group of friends gets together. Every year, a few of us shoot a few beers. I will shoot at least two this year, and I'm 56 years old. Embarassing, I know. I take solace in that my doctor (same age as I) is doing them right next to me. This can would come in handy, but Coors Light is a dealbreaker. But since Coors and Molson are owned by the same company, perhaps we can find something a tad more palatable to get wasted on.

And, yes, there is something more amusing than me caring about what beer I shoot down my throat. It is this "Coors is aiming to rid binge drinkers of the tedious burden of searching for the air pocket in a can of beer before it’s punctured" who "searches for the air pocket? You turn the beer on it's side and then simply make a hole. No searching involved at all.

Edit: OK and now I have to wonder if I've been had. Is this simply a satirical story making Coors ridiculous ad campaigns which talk about, for example, how COLD their beer is?

Farce I'd say. Every web search I did turned up the "shotgunable can" articles from 2009. so perhaps they thought about it but never did it. no mention of it on their website either. and we all know that the very second any beer company comes out with something new it is advertised immediately

I'm no expert.....but I think it would be kind of difficult to make a tab that opens on the side of a rounded beer can.

A better idea for them would be to put a marker (such as an arrow) on the side of the can that says "punch here for shotgun" or something.

I call Coors Light "Tincture of Beer". To me it is a lightly and badly beer-flavored carbonated water. Of course I feel the same way about most industrial light beers or low-cal beers.

I call Coors Light "Cheerleader Beer"

One of my friends drinks nothing but Coors Light. When he drinks at my house and I ask if he needs another one, I bring him a glass of tap water and laugh. It never, ever gets old!

Fantastic news! Now if they just did this on Guinness cans (along with releasing Irish Whiskey into the can when the 2nd tab is pulled), car bombs would be just as easy. Get moving, Dublin!!!

Oh my god this is brilliant!

Next we can have lighters built into the neck of 151 bottles. After so many car bombs looking for a lighter to do flaming shots is a tedious job.

Its not bad. Not as good when it was made in Seattle. Its better than big produced stuff.
But the commercials thats what sold it
