New Bourbon Addiction

Thanks a lot guys.

First it was blades, then AS and ASB's then Coffee now it's bourbon.

Based on B&B, I've picked up my first bottle of Maker's Mark and all I can say is WOW.

Looking forward to trying other's that have been mentioned out here like Eagle Rare and Woodford's.

Thanks again B&B.....

Glad you like it. Avoid expensive blind buy mistakes by trying other brands at friend's, bars, or purchasing small airline bottles when possible. I have a bottle of Eagle Rare that was a blind buy and I'm not all that impressed with it in spite of lots of recommendations here at B&B.

I am not participating in a another bourbon discussion. I went through 9 bottles in 4 weeks last time and "I ain't up to it again, this soon".

My winner was Four Roses Small Batch.

Maker's Mark is my first choice when I'm out (finished my first bottle at home!). I'd like to purchase something different for my liquor cabinet, though. I might try the Knob Creek next...

Knob Creek is nice stuff...I do enjoy Marker's as well.

It's called "alcoholism". See your physician right away. Oh wait, you just like bourbon.

I thought drinking in moderation was deemed good for your health....:thumbup1:

Thanks for the additional recommendations.

Murchmb's advice means having to take SWMBO out for dinner more often... Might not be a bad thing.

Makers is my go to bourbon. Go to Makers web site and sign up for their ambassador club. They are always sending us free stuff. Try an Old Fashioned or a Manhatten made with Makers. Keep Bookers for special occasions.

If you're wowed by a bottle of makers, just wait until the first time you try a neat Evan Williams Single Barrel, Woodford, or anything from Pappy Van Winkle. I know they cost a bit more, but they're worth every penny once you appreciate how amazing bourbon can be...

I've been enjoying the bourbon this fall (as usual), and couldn't imagine making a mixed drink with the stuff I usually imbibe.

I can't agree more on the 4 Roses Single Barrel. Problem is, I had to venture into Kentucky to acquire a few bottles.... and I'm down to my last one. Same story on the Pappy's. I've been enjoying the 2008 & 2009 bottlings of Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon lately, and just picked up a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed this afternoon that I've dipped into a little. When all else fails, I'll pick up a bottle of Knob Creek. Looking forward to watching some college pigskin and enjoying a little BBQ & Bourbon tomorrow. Fall in the SE is a good time to be alive  Enjoy!

Congrats and welcome to the club! Gentleman jack is my fav but makers mark and dry is my ordinary drink at the pub.

Actually, the sun is over the yardarm and I could do with one now. :001_smile

for me, the top bourbon. I also advocate strongly for rye whiskey. Wild Turkey Rye and ginger ale is my highball of choice.

I'm a big fan of Elijah Craig 12 year old. Great stuff and quite a sleeper in the Bourbon world from what I read. Very smooth and very reasonably priced for the quality.

Chris

My Bourbons of choice are:

Woodford's Reserve and Blanton's, but my all time favorite (and yes I know it is really a sour mash whiskey, not a bourbon) is Single Barrel Jack Daniel's! The Single Barrel and a Partagas #2 Serie S is "the nuts"!
