What's new

New blade evaluating.

How do you guys do it? Keep every variable the same until the blade is done? Rotate through different creams or soaps? Keep the cream/soap the same & try the blade in different razors?

I don't care about creams and soaps. I try new blades in my most used razors Futur, Adjustable Slim and Ibsen slant bar.

For me most important is the difference in razors. I try the new blade in one razor, then the next blade in another razor and then in a third razor. As the razors all differ, I find out what works best for me. Sometimes however a blade doesn't perform in any razor, then it will go to the avoid-list.

I've been shaving for over 45 years. I could get a perfect shave with a broken beer bottle.

So far I have not found a razor or blade that I could not get a perfect shave with and I have tried possibly thousands of combinations.

The ticket is "consistency". Doing the same thing over and over again with no variation.

If you can get to the point of being a shaving machine you can use anything and get a perfect shave

I think this sums it up perfectly:

I've gotten the same shave from a Derby as I have from a Feather as a final result. The feel was different but the shave the same.

Some shaves aren't quite as comfortable, some need a bit of extra blade buffing, some feel like you're done after the first pass - but when I leave the bathroom I'm always clean shaven.
